This is very cool, great work on this, looking forward to seeing how this turns out. The attention to detail and the extend and depth of the changes made here are very impressive. The UI, new models, sound design, levels, new lighting system, materials, all together must be a crazy amount of work. Everything here looks like it could be from valve and I wouldn't know any better.

If lights are placed after the map compile - how do you script them and make them work in sync with events that are setup in editor before compilation?
they're real-time lights. they dont need to be compiled because they're computer in real time. other than that, they work the exact same as baked lighting.
@@notraeon thats not the question, they were asking how theyre gonna "connect" these lighting events to events in hammer. for example: if you have a button, you want this light to flicker when that button is being pressed, how do they handle that with this new system?

the button at 1:53 turns the material emancipation grill off, allowing the cube to pass through
idk why, but I feel like PBR, changes the whole vibe of the art style. From a more futuristic look to a more industrial look.

ugh... I respect your project and your work, but portal games focus on story and puzzles, not on graphics. No matter how shiny you make the game, if the puzzles are unclear or uninspired or the story is lame or overambitious, the game will be shit. Don't lose yourself too much on these technical aspects. Portal Revolution just came out and was a banger. At no point during that gameplay did I think "boy, if this game looked better the game would be better" graphics are actually irrelevant for a good portal game... sorrynotsorry
